Tunisia's Chayma Toumi wins silver at Taekwondo World Cup in Taiyuan
Tunisian taekwondo athlete Chayma Toumi secured a silver medal in the under 57 kg category at the Women's Taekwondo World Cup held in Taiyuan, China, on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Toumi reached the final after defeating Uzbekistan's Shabouna Abdouvalieva 2-0 in the morning. Her path to the final included victories over Serbia's Nikolina Milic 2-0 in the first round, Uzbekistan's Madina Mirabzalova 2-1 in the second round, France's Kanelia Karabin 2-1 in the quarterfinals, and Morocco's Amina Dahouie 2-0 in the semifinals. In the final match, Toumi was defeated by Jordan's Fadia Khrifan with a score of 0-2 3-5, 5-7. In other categories, world champion Wafa Masghouni was eliminated in the round of 16 in the under 67 kg category after losing 0-2 to Croatia's Matea Jelic. Masghouni had previously beaten Poland's Julia Nowak 2-0 and Spain's Lina Moreno Reyes 2-0. Ahd Ben Aoun was eliminated in the first round of the under 53 kg category, losing 1-2 to Great Britain's Judy McKew.
