Egypt to increase visa fees starting in 2027, affecting Algerian travelers
Egypt will increase its visa fees starting January 1, 2027, a measure that will impact foreign travelers, including Algerian nationals. A new government decree, signed by the Egyptian Prime Minister and published in the Official Gazette on August 30, 2026, sets a tax of $15, or its equivalent in convertible currencies, for entry and transit visas. This new $15 tax applies to all entry services, including transit visas, stay visas, and all consular procedures performed at Egyptian embassies and consulates abroad. This is not an entirely new charge but rather an increase from a previous tax of $12 introduced in January 2026. While the new text legally revises the existing levy from $12 to $15 for 2027, some reports suggest this $15 charge might be added to the initial visa price.
