Speaking at a joint press conference with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Abdelatty noted that Egypt, Qatar, and Tรผrkiye have coordinated as mediators to advance the Gaza peace process. He indicated that these efforts led to Palestinian factions responding to requests concerning weapons restrictions, and the focus should now be on implementing the recently announced roadmap for Gaza. This includes Israel fulfilling commitments under the first and second phases of the US peace plan.
The first phase involves facilitating humanitarian aid, early-recovery supplies, and infrastructure and hospital rehabilitation. The second phase includes restricting weapons, an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, an end to attacks, enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to perform its temporary duties, and deploying Palestinian police and an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire. These steps, Abdelatty said, should lead to the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers also discussed developments in the West Bank and Jerusalem, warning against settlement expansion, settler attacks, and incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressi
