Egypt reaffirms support for GCC states' security and stability

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting with GCC Secretary-General Jassem Albudaiwi on August 12, 2026. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s steadfast support for the security and stability of the Gulf states, expressing solidarity and stressing that the security of GCC states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security. He also praised Gulf efforts to promote de-escalation and strengthen regional security and stability, highlighting the importance of continued close coordination between Egypt and the GCC to address military escalation and concerns of various parties.

Albudaiwi, in turn, commended Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting regional security and stability, its efforts to reduce escalation, resolve crises, and promote joint Arab action. He reaffirmed the GCC’s commitment to developing relations with Egypt and strengthening consultation on mutual concerns. Abdelatty also noted the significant development in institutional relations since the 2022 memorandum of understanding on political consultations and the adoption of the Joint Action Plan for 2024-2028 last year.

He welcomed the first Egypt-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum held in Cairo in November 2025, stressing the importance of building on momentum in areas like renewable energy, petrochemicals, digital economy, AI, and pharmaceuticals.
