
President El-Sisi appoints Mohamed Ibrahim as Golden Triangle Economic Zone Authority chairperson
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has appointed Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Ibrahim as chairperson of the General Authority for the Golden Triangle Economic Zone for a one-year term, effective August 14, 2026. Ibrahim previously served as the authority’s deputy chairperson since April 2026. He brings over two decades of experience in economic diplomacy, trade, investment, and public administration, including diplomatic and senior leadership roles at the Egyptian Commercial Service and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. His career highlights include representing Egypt in World Trade Organization negotiations at the UN in Geneva, working at the Egyptian Embassy in London, and heading the commercial office at the Egyptian Embassy in Tokyo from 2021 to 2025, where he focused on attracting Japanese investment and strengthening economic ties. Ibrahim holds a master’s degree in International Business Economics from City University London, an MBA, and a bachelor’s degree in International Foreign Trade. This appointment supports Egypt's efforts to develop the Golden Triangle’s economic potential, accelerate infrastructure, and attract domestic and foreign investment.
