Federal Government moves to revive stalled Kolmani oil exploration
The Federal Government has committed to restarting exploration activities at the Kolmani Oil Field in Bauchi State. Muhammad Bello, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, made this pledge during a verification visit to the site. He emphasized the project's importance for Bauchi State, the North-East region, and the entire country. Bello stated that the commission's visit was to assess the project's current status and advocate for its continuation, noting President's concern for the project. The RMAFC will report its findings to relevant authorities to support the revival of exploration. Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources, Maiwada Bello, confirmed that exploration activities ceased in July 2025 and expressed hope that the commission's visit would lead to their resumption. The Bauchi State Government, under Governor Bala Mohammed, is prepared to provide necessary manpower and support. Muhammad Bello also commended Bauchi State for establishing the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy, which will provide skilled personnel for the project, noting that RMAFC contributed funds to its construction.
