
Seychelles to host 10th Southern African Broadcasting Association convention in October 2026
The Seychelles will host the annual general assembly of the Southern African Broadcasting Association SABA and the 10th Southern African Broadcasters Convention from October 22 to 25, 2026. The Council of Ministers approved the event, with the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation SBC as the host institution. Organized by Broadcast Media Africa in collaboration with SABA, the convention is expected to attract hundreds of media professionals from the Southern African Development Community SADC region and beyond. Attendees will include media leaders, television and radio executives, government representatives, regulators, content producers, technology companies, streaming platforms, telecommunications operators, academic institutions, and development organizations. Vice President Sébastien Pillay highlighted that a key benefit for Seychelles is the opportunity for local media professionals, particularly from SBC, to interact with regional counterparts. This cooperation could foster experience sharing on media operations, resource utilization, and staff skill development. Pillay also noted the existing technical and professional skills within SBC, such as among camera operators, lighting technicians, and production teams, suggesting that exchanges with other broadcasters could enhance these capabilities. Training in journalism, investigative journalism, and technical broadcasting aspects is another area where closer cooperation through SABA could benefit Seychelles. The modalities
