All Blacks secure late victory against Stormers in South African tour opener
The New Zealand All Blacks defeated the Stormers 38-21 in the opening match of their South African tour at Cape Town Stadium. The game was tied 14-14 before the All Blacks scored four late tries through Rieko Ioane, Leroy Carter, Josh Moorby, and Asafo Aumua. The All Blacks led 14-7 at halftime, despite numerous errors and penalties, and were at one point reduced to 13 players after yellow cards were issued to Anton Lienart-Brown and Asafo Aumua. The Stormers equalized through Deon Fourie, and Simon Parker scored for the All Blacks before halftime. Both teams were not at full strength, with the Stormers missing nine Springbok squad members and the All Blacks coach Dave Rennie giving opportunities to fringe players. Prop Siale Lauaki and flyhalf Josh Jacomb made their All Blacks debuts. The All Blacks will play two more matches against local franchises before facing the Springboks in a four-Test series.
