DHQ confirms death of general in Borno attack

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the death of Brigadier General O.O. Braimah, Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, and three other personnel—two officers and two soldiers—following a terrorist attack in Kaga Local Government Area, Borno State. Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, stated these gallant individuals made the ultimate sacrifice. Brigadier General Braimah was noted for his exceptional courage and leadership. Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, extended condolences to the families, assuring that their sacrifice would strengthen ongoing military operations. The Defence Headquarters affirmed that operations would continue with greater determination. This incident follows a similar attack in November 2025 that killed Brigadier General Musa Uba. Major General Onoja also highlighted recent operational successes under Operation HADIN KAI, including disrupting terrorist movements and logistics in Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Taraba, and Gombe states. Troops on April 4, 2026, disrupted terrorists advancing toward Dikwa town. A suspect, Fidelis Thomas, was apprehended in Taraba State for alleged links to attacks.
