Former Junior Minister and Member of Parliament Véronique Leu-Govind is scheduled to be questioned by the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit ADSU in Rose-Hill regarding the seizure of 157.5 kilograms of cannabis in La Réunion on July 26. This questioning follows the arrest and detention of her husband, Gulshan Govind, who is suspected of involvement in the drug trafficking case. Investigators aim to clarify the nature of their relationship, their recent travels to La Réunion, and what Leu-Govind knew about her husband's activities and his alleged connections to individuals known to police in criminal investigations. A GWM vehicle, registered in Leu-Govind's name but used by Gulshan Govind, is also under scrutiny. Investigators suspect the vehicle was used for suspicious trips between July 26 and 28, with skipper Ravindra Chimajee and a third individual reportedly on board during some journeys. Traces of narcotics were allegedly found inside the vehicle. The Financial Crimes Commission FCC is examining the acquisition of this vehicle, purchased last year for over two million rupees in cash, and the couple's assets. ADSU investigators also seek explanations for the discovery of four cannabis plants and a vial of methadone during a search of Gulshan Govind's home in Chamarel. They want to determine if Leu-Govind was aware of her husband's lifestyle and alleged drug use. The possibility of examining Leu-Govind's mobile phone at a later stage is not ruled out.
