Medication adjustment caused Musiala鈥檚 recent collapses, says Kompany
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany stated that midfielder Jamal Musiala's recent collapses during pre-season matches were due to an adjustment in his medication. The 23-year-old Germany international collapsed twice within four days during friendly matches against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim. Musiala had previously disclosed he is being treated for a neurological dysfunction causing temporary seizures. Kompany explained that a slight change to Musiala鈥檚 treatment led to side effects, which is a normal occurrence when adjusting a treatment plan. Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the club and players have been aware of Musiala's condition since the previous season and offer him full support. Musiala is currently ruled out of the German Supercup against Borussia Dortmund and will train individually while the club works to revert his treatment to its previous arrangement. Medical experts note that absence seizures, when effectively treated, should not prevent athletes from participating in sports.
