
Saint Janet's children detail singer's final moments before hospital death
The children of veteran Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician Iyun Janet Ajilore, known as Saint Janet, have revealed details surrounding her death. In an interview with Alore TV, her daughter Omowunmi stated that Saint Janet performed at a show in Sango, Ogun State, the night before her passing without showing any signs of illness. The following day, after returning from the market and preparing a meal, Saint Janet complained of chest pain and difficulty breathing. She then requested to be taken to the hospital. Her son, Orinayo, added that she was attended to immediately upon arrival at the hospital but subsequently lost her pulse. Another daughter, Fola, described her mother as a caring individual. Saint Janet's manager also confirmed she showed no signs of illness during her final performance. The family has established a committee for burial arrangements, with a nine-day period of prayer and thanksgiving underway, and the funeral scheduled for August 25 and 26. Her death was announced by publisher and socialite Otunba Femi Davies on Facebook, who described her as a popular musician known for vibrant live performances.
