President Ouattara meets with ECOWAS Commission President Omar Alieu Touray in Abidjan
President Alassane Ouattara met with Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Abidjan. Mr. Touray's four-year term as head of the ECOWAS Commission concluded last July, and he visited President Ouattara to bid farewell and express gratitude for the continuous support received during his tenure. He noted that his mandate was marked by numerous challenges, which he and his team overcame thanks to the support from President Ouattara and other heads of state. Mr. Touray emphasized that he found it important to travel to Abidjan to convey his appreciation to the Ivorian Head of State, Government, and people for their commitment and assistance in fulfilling his mission. During their discussion, the ECOWAS Commission President also raised issues concerning the sub-region, including economic, political, social, and security matters. Mr. Touray stated that he received advice and guidance from the Ivorian Head of State on these topics and expressed confidence that the sub-region would continue to benefit from President Ouattara's leadership and dedication to West African integration. The meeting was attended by Mr. Fid猫le Sarassoro, Minister, Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, and Mr. Adama Dosso, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad.
