Yango prepares launch in Libreville with recruitment drive and music video
Yango, the urban transportation multinational, is orchestrating its entry into Libreville, Gabon, with a meticulously prepared launch, though an official date has not yet been disclosed. The company is actively recruiting drivers and has released a music video featuring local artists L'Oiseau Rare and Emma'a. Yango, which operates from Dubai and is a subsidiary of Russian tech giant Yandex, has a presence in a dozen African countries including C么te d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, and Angola. Its business model relies on intermediation, partnering with local operators rather than owning its own fleet or employing drivers directly. This approach is expected to be replicated in Libreville. The company is enticing potential drivers with promises of no commission during the launch phase, bonuses, and continuous assistance. Yango's entry will add to an already competitive market in Gabon, which includes Gozem, operating since 2021, and the electric taxis Ndz茅la, set to deploy in late 2025. While recruitment and promotional activities are underway, details regarding serviced cities, pricing, and regulatory framework are yet to be specified.
