Cocoa-coffee sector: Stakeholder awareness continues before the National Traceability System comes into effect

Since mid-July, the Council has been holding meetings across all production departments to prepare producers and cooperative societies for this reform in coffee and cocoa marketing. A key measure is the mandatory producer card. She highlighted the importance of the NTS, especially with the European Union's new regulation against deforestation, effective January 1, 2027, which requires traceability for products like coffee and cocoa to ensure they do not originate from deforested areas. The producer card is central to this system, ensuring the farm-gate price set by the state, securing financial transactions by reducing cash circulation, and providing access to universal health coverage CMU since 2025, with 100% coverage. It also facilitates access to various programs by the Cocoa-Coffee Council focused on productivity, sustainability, and traceability.
