Chinese President Xi Jinping departs for state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt

Following the summit, he will undertake state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, respectively. President Xi is accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Cai Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Standing Committee. During his visit to Egypt, President Xi is scheduled to hold discussions with President El-Sisi focusing on the strategic partnership between their nations, as well as regional and international issues.

This visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China and marks over a decade since their relationship was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Economic ties have strengthened significantly, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $20.78 billion by the end of 2025, an increase from $17.37 billion in 2024. China has been involved in numerous major Egyptian projects in infrastructure, transport, railways, shipbuilding, construction, investment, and space technology.
