Chinese media highlights President Xi Jinping's visit to Egypt, emphasizing strengthened bilateral relations

Xinhua described the visit as providing new impetus to bilateral relations and strengthening a shared future. The agency showcased Egypt's blend of ancient and modern civilizations through a photo report featuring landmarks like the Pyramids, Citadel of Saladin, Historic Cairo, and the Iconic Tower. CGTN reported that relations are at an all-time high, noting China has been Egypt's largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years.

Bilateral trade reached a record US$20.79 billion in 2025. Egypt's imports from China include engineering equipment, textiles, and building materials, while exports are mainly agricultural and food products. Following China's elimination of tariffs on products from 53 African countries, including Egypt, on May 1, 2026, Egypt's exports to China surged by 199.8% year-on-year to US$840.8 million in the first half of 2026, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
