Burkinabe foreign minister and Iranian ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation and current events

Burkina Faso's Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mojtaba Faghihi, on the morning of April 15, 2026. During the meeting, Ambassador Faghihi thanked Burkinabe authorities for their condolences and solidarity following the death of Iran's Supreme Leader and other Iranian citizens killed in Israeli-American strikes. He stated that the Iranian state and institutions continue to function normally due to a strong, resilient, and patriotic populace. The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his wish for a return to peace in Iran, which he described as a friendly country and strategic partner to Burkina Faso. The two officials also reviewed bilateral cooperation files and discussed current international issues.
