Captain Ibrahim Traoré urges youth to embrace humility and service at mandatory patriotic immersion 2026 closing ceremony
More than 65,000 young people across Burkina Faso have completed their 2026 Mandatory Patriotic Immersion IPO program. The official closing ceremony, presided over by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, took place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Ouagadougou. Addressing this second cohort, the head of state emphasized humility, solidarity, dignity, courage, and a sense of duty as essential values for building a great and sovereign Burkina Faso. Captain Traoré stated that the experience should not end with the training, but that the learned values must accompany the youth in their studies, professional lives, and their relationship with the nation. He highlighted humility as a primary quality of a revolutionary, urging the youth to never stop learning and to avoid ignorance, which he considers a danger to society. Océanne Tiendrébéogo, the representative of the 2026 IPO participants, affirmed that their baccalaureate is not just a diploma but a responsibility to the nation.
