
African media professionals on three-week immersion in China, exploring innovation, heritage, and ambition
Sixty African media professionals are undertaking a three-week immersion in China, from August 7 to 27, 2026, traveling from Beijing to Changsha. The program, organized by China Broadcasting International Economic and Technological Cooperation Co., Ltd. CBIC with support from the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Embassy in Burkina Faso, aims to showcase a country balancing artificial intelligence, robotization, and media modernization with the preservation of heritage and history. Participants from Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Comoros, Mauritius, C么te d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Central African Republic, and Senegal are exploring various facets of China. In Beijing, the delegation observed the integration of green spaces within urban development. The journey continued to Changsha, Hunan province, where they witnessed significant industrial power, including automated factories at C-Kingdom Cable Technology and Changsha Sunlight Agricultural Machinery, demonstrating China's model of increased production, speed, and precision while developing technological skills. The group also visited cultural sites like the Tongguan Porcelain Kiln Museum, where artifacts from the 9th-century Batu Hitam shipwreck illustrate early globalization and cultural exchange. At the Song Dan Chinese Character Art Museum, participants engaged with Chinese calligraphy, highlighting the co-existence of modern technology and ancient practices.
