Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot visits agroecological site in Korsimoro, Burkina Faso
Maxime Prévot, the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited an irrigated agroecological site in Tengressenè, Korsimoro, Burkina Faso, on August 27, 2026. His visit, part of a trip to Burkina Faso that began on August 26, allowed him to observe activities supported by Belgian cooperation. Prévot, also the Vice-Prime Minister, was accompanied by a delegation including the Belgian Ambassador to Burkina Faso and the Governor of the Koulsé region. He emphasized a commitment to results-oriented international cooperation and a diplomacy of action. During his tour, he explored poultry houses, fish ponds, and market garden fields, participating in the stocking of fish fry and planting onion cuttings. Prévot expressed satisfaction with the achievements at the farm, reaffirming Belgium's intention to remain a reliable partner. The farm is supported under a project aimed at strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households against climate change in the Yaadga, Koulsé, and Liptako regions. This project, led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO and funded by Belgium with approximately 5 million euros, began in 2023 and is set to last 60 months. The 3-hectare farm, with 1 hectare developed, supports 19 households, 60% of which are women. Activities include poultry farming with 500 heads and 1,000 laying hens producing 9,600 eggs annually, raising small and large ruminants including 70 sheep and 16 cattle, and beekeeping with 70 hives producing 500 liter
