Belgian Foreign Minister visits Koulsé region, reaffirms cooperation with Burkina Faso
Maxime Prévot, the Belgian Foreign Minister, visited the Koulsé region of Burkina Faso, accompanied by the Belgian Ambassador and the Governor of the Koulsé region. The delegation visited an agro-ecological farm in Tengressené, which supports 19 households through activities like poultry farming, beekeeping, livestock rearing, and fish farming. This farm is part of a FAO project, funded by Belgium, aimed at strengthening the resilience of vulnerable households against climate change. The project provided water towers, ponds, fish fry, seeds, and agricultural inputs. Following this, Prévot visited a nutritional care center in Kaya, supported financially by Belgium under UNICEF's supervision. This center helps children suffering from acute and moderate malnutrition and educates their mothers on preparing enriched porridges. The tour concluded at the Center for Listening and Socio-Economic Reintegration of Women and Girls in Tiwèga, Kaya, which offers professional training in weaving, beading, and tailoring to vulnerable women and girls, having assisted over 250 women to date. Prévot expressed satisfaction with the impact of these projects, highlighting Belgium's commitment to supporting Burkina Faso's priorities in education, health, climate change adaptation, and socio-economic reintegration.
