Zambian electoral commission announces President Hichilema re-elected with 60% of votes
The electoral commission has officially announced that incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema has been re-elected as President of Zambia in the first round with 60% of the votes. This re-election comes after he first took office in 2021. During his first term, the 64-year-old Hakainde Hichilema implemented significant reforms, particularly in the economic sector. Despite these efforts, the population is still awaiting the full impact of these measures. Zambians have largely entrusted him with a new mandate following an election marked by clashes. The outcome became increasingly clear as ballots were counted.
