Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke backs President Tinubu for 2027 re-election
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, citing Tinubu's Yoruba heritage and the need to consolidate reforms and infrastructure projects in the South-West. Adeleke, who recently secured his second term as governor, stated this in an interview with Channels Television. He denied any political agreement with Tinubu regarding the Osun governorship election, emphasizing that his support is not based on a personal deal. Adeleke expressed his willingness to actively campaign for Tinubu in 2027 and to collaborate with members of the All Progressives Congress, including supporters of former Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola, to aid Tinubu's campaign. He also mentioned that he would participate in Tinubu's campaign in any capacity requested. This endorsement follows renewed attention to their relationship after the Osun election and comments from Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo. Adeleke maintained that his support is not politically motivated. He won the August 15 election with 511,067 votes, defeating Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress. President Tinubu congratulated Adeleke on his victory in a telephone call, urging him to unite the people of Osun State for development.
