Wike predicts larger rainbow coalition for Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stated that a larger national "rainbow coalition" is forming to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 presidential election. Wike made this assertion during an inspection in Abuja, commenting on the recent visit of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke. He indicated that Adeleke's visit was part of ongoing political realignment. Wike explained that Adeleke, despite running on the Accord Party platform in the August 15 Osun governorship election due to internal Peoples Democratic Party wranglings, remains rooted in the PDP structure and has now aligned with Tinubu. Wike also maintained that crises within major opposition parties have weakened their ability to challenge the President in 2027, affecting figures like former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi. He expects further realignments in the coming weeks, attracting political figures from various parties and regions, suggesting the 2027 presidential election outcome is already favoring Tinubu.
