Aliko Dangote named among TIME 100 most influential people for 2026

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has been included in the TIME100 list for 2026, marking his second appearance after first being recognized in 2014. The list, released on April 15, acknowledges individuals shaping global discourse across various sectors. Dangote is the sole Nigerian on the 2026 list, featured in the Titans category alongside figures such as Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Carney, and Pope Leo XIV, as well as business and technology leaders Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan. Other Africans recognized include Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Precious Matsoso, Anok Yai, Mamadou Amadou Ly, and Zabib Musa Loro. As the founder of Africa’s largest indigenous industrial conglomerate, Dangote has invested in cement manufacturing, sugar refining, fertilizer production, agriculture, and infrastructure, with a recent expansion into energy. TIME highlighted his vision of building globally competitive industries using African resources. Beyond his business achievements, Dangote is known for his philanthropic leadership through the Aliko Dangote Foundation. This recognition coincides with the Dangote Group's Vision 2030, aiming to transform the conglomerate into a $100 billion global enterprise, with phases focusing on scaling existing businesses and expanding into new sectors and international markets.
