Liverpool secures minority investment from consortium including Jeff Bezos
Liverpool Football Club has announced a strategic minority investment from 1892 Holdings, a consortium led by businessman Amit Bhatia, which includes Amazon founder Jeff Bezos among its investors. Fenway Sports Group FSG, Liverpool's majority owner, confirmed the definitive agreement for the sale of a minority equity stake. The investment group also comprises the Mittal Family Trusts, K5 Sports with Bezos as its lead investor, and EE Capital, the family office of Elaine and Eduardo Saverin. FSG will maintain majority ownership and operational control of the Premier League club. Liverpool stated the deal aims to support the club's long-term ambitions by integrating expertise from global business, technology, and investment. FSG President Mike Gordon emphasized that the consortium's long-term philosophy aligns with Liverpool's vision. Amit Bhatia, on behalf of 1892 Holdings, expressed pride in the investment and the consortium's belief in the club and its leadership. The agreement introduces prominent business figures into Liverpool's ownership structure while ensuring FSG retains control. The transaction is pending regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. FSG acquired Liverpool in 2010 and has overseen periods of Premier League and Champions League success.
