PAGA demands answers from government on AKSA bribery investigation
The People鈥檚 Alliance for Governance and Accountability PAGA is seeking explanations from the government regarding the AKSA bribery investigation. PAGA stated in an August 12, 2026 press statement that the Economic and Organised Crime Office EOCO was aware of the investigation last year, but no significant action was taken or reported. The group highlighted that the Ghanaian aspect of the case seemingly began only after United States proceedings concluded. PAGA expressed concern that the apparent lack of urgency and conflicting stances from state institutions raise serious questions about Ghana's handling of the matter. PAGA is demanding a full account of investigations initiated when the allegations first emerged, the evidence gathered, individuals questioned, and subsequent actions. The organization also urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor OSP, the Attorney-General, EOCO, the Financial Intelligence Centre, and other relevant state agencies to secure and preserve all evidential records from the US proceedings, including financial records, emails, exhibits, recordings, and testimony. PAGA called for an investigation into every Ghanaian beneficiary, facilitator, or public official identified in the evidence.
