Aminata Touré clarifies President Diomaye's plans for special funds and asset declarations

This action follows the adoption of the bill by a Pastef majority commission, despite the government's six amendments being rejected. Amidst these institutional tensions over public fund management, Aminata Touré, High Representative of the Head of State and General Supervisor of Kiiraay–Les Patriotes républicains, spoke on RTS Digital. She clarified President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's intentions, stating that he aims to extend the requirement for asset declarations to include the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly.

Touré noted that President Faye has already submitted his own asset declaration upon taking office, fulfilling a campaign promise. She emphasized that the President seeks to enhance transparency and accountability in public fund management, rather than weaken control mechanisms. According to Touré, these initiatives, including the regulation of special funds and expanded asset declarations, reflect a commitment to consistency and equality in the obligation to account for public finances.
