Manchester United loses to AC Milan in pre-season friendly finale
Manchester United concluded their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 defeat against Ruben Amorim's AC Milan in Wroclaw. Michael Carrick's side led twice through Harry Maguire and Patrick Dorgu, but AC Milan scored three close-range goals before Ruben Loftus-Cheek added a fourth. This marked United's second loss in six pre-season matches, which included a win over Atletico Madrid and a draw with Paris Saint-Germain. Carrick acknowledged disappointment with the performance, stating the team needs to learn and improve. Marcus Rashford made his first appearance for United after a loan spell with Barcelona. Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty, his second in successive friendlies, but provided the corner for Maguire's opening goal. Milan equalized through Samuel Chukwueze and later Alphadjo Cisse. Goncalo Ramos and Loftus-Cheek scored in the second half to secure Milan's victory. Amorim, a former United manager, led AC Milan to the win. United will begin their 2026/27 Premier League season away to Hull on August 22.
