African Democratic Congress forms reconciliation committee to address primary grievances ahead of 2027 elections

National Chairman David Mark inaugurated the committee in Abuja, emphasizing its role in healing divisions, rebuilding trust, and ensuring all members feel valued. The May primaries led to mixed reactions and disaffection among some party members, despite producing winners. Mark urged successful aspirants to embrace responsibility and not sideline former opponents, stressing the importance of unity.

He stated that the committee would engage aggrieved members, address their concerns, and rebuild trust, with zonal sub-committees to facilitate continuous engagement. Mark called for an end to internal sabotage and revenge politics, asserting that the ADC cannot afford to be divided for the 2027 elections. Senator Tunde Ogbeha, chairman of the reconciliation committee, acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in resolving them by prioritizing Nigeria and the party.

He assured that the committee would operate with justice, transparency, and fairness, urging aggrieved members to remain patient and committed, as future opportunities would arise for those who did not secure 2027 tickets. The committee, led by Ogbeha and Senator Oserheimen Osunbor as deputy chairman, includes several other members and will collaborate with zonal legal advisers.
