He stated that repeatedly increasing electricity tariffs to cover ECG's inefficiencies would burden households and businesses, and that the government should instead focus on fixing the underlying problems.

The Minority Leader argued that affordable and reliable electricity is crucial for businesses to operate longer, increase production, and create jobs. He questioned whether the necessary structures are in place for the 24-hour economy policy to work effectively, cautioning that a good idea without proper implementation safeguards would fail. Afenyo-Markin urged the government to continue reforms initiated by previous administrations and to prioritize creating conditions for businesses to operate around the clock, rather than focusing solely on policy rhetoric.
