Ibrahim Mbaye to join Aston Villa after PSG and Liverpool fail to agree on transfer fee
Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old Senegalese international from Paris Saint-Germain, is set to join Aston Villa in the Premier League. This development follows a period of negotiations where Liverpool had initially reached a five-year contractual agreement with Mbaye. However, a financial disparity between PSG and Liverpool ultimately led to Aston Villa's intervention. PSG reportedly sought around 70 million euros for Mbaye, while Liverpool valued him at approximately 50 million euros and was unwilling to exceed 60 million euros. According to The Athletic, Aston Villa has reached an agreement in principle with PSG for an estimated total of 55 million euros. The relationship between Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Nassef Sawiris is also said to have facilitated these discussions. Mbaye, who has 15 caps for Senegal, will move to Birmingham, where he will play for Aston Villa, a team PSG faced in the Champions League this season. He did not participate in the European Super Cup win against Aston Villa or the Champions Trophy loss to Lens.
