2027: Faleke backs Hamzat for Lagos governorship seat

James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, as the next governor of the state for the 2027 elections. Faleke made this declaration on his official X handle, urging supporters and All Progressive Congress members in Ikeja Federal Constituency and across Lagos State to support Hamzat. The PUNCH reported that the APC is moving towards a consensus arrangement for Hamzat as its governorship candidate for 2027 in Lagos State. Party stakeholders are also said to favor Senator Olamilekan Adeola for Ogun State and Senator Sharafadeen Alli for Oyo State. These purported decisions emerged from a March 23 meeting of APC stakeholders from the three states with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos. Sources indicated that the choices were made after prolonged discussions with the President, considering collective opinions and candidate popularity. Attendees at the meeting included Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele; Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and Biodun Oyebanji; and Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zaccheaus Adedeji.
