18-year-old Alfred Bannerman represented Gold Coast in 1956 debate on race and prejudice

Rare footage from 1956 shows Bannerman alongside fellow African students Mohammed Liman from Nigeria, Nebiat Tafari from Ethiopia, and Dicks Loubser from South Africa. The four teenagers participated in a youth exchange and discussion program examining prejudice and racial attitudes. This appearance occurred during a significant period in the Gold Coast's history, as the country was under British colonial rule but moving towards independence.

Bannerman, then a student at Prempeh College, had traveled to the United States on an exchange scholarship. He later pursued a distinguished career in medicine, becoming a professor of neurology at Columbia University in New York and director of neurology at Jamaica Hospital Center in Queens.
