Spain launches regularization plan for nearly 500,000 undocumented immigrants

This initiative, described as an "act of normalization," aims to integrate hundreds of thousands of individuals already part of daily life in Spain, with an expected positive impact on the national economy. The application process will begin online this week, with in-person applications starting next Monday, and will conclude on June 30. Sánchez justified the measure by citing the need to address demographic aging and support economic activity, emphasizing that migration must be managed "responsibly" and integrated "justly."

The plan, adopted by royal decree, will take effect upon its publication in the Official State Gazette. This reform follows a popular initiative that garnered over 600,000 signatures and the support of nearly 900 associations, advocating for the exceptional regularization of undocumented migrants.
